My name is Christine Wright; I am the mother of Chiryn Wright. He has shown many improvements in many areas of his life since beginning martial arts at AMAF. I have enjoyed seeing him grow and change because of the influence the teachings martial arts have bestowed upon him. I appreciate the different values the masters uphold the students to in class and in life. They have really been made apparent through the change I have seen in him. At school, he has received better behavior reports in class and has more consistently improves his relationship with his teachers. His grades have reflected his improving focus and determination. He has also not been in trouble for disagreements with other children or classmates. Over all, I would say that his attitude at home has improved significantly as well. He does not argue about getting things done at home as much and is willing to see reason. It seems like the way he is expected to listen to his teachers is something he brings home with him and uses with us, his parents, his grandparents, and our peers as well. Also, the nightly struggle that was homework has gotten a lot easier. I would like to thank all the teachers/ masters for the interest and time they have given Chiryn. The positive change we see in him are something his father and I are grateful for all the time. ~ Christine Wright

What karate has done for me is it helped me to get better grades than last year. It also helped me get involved in sports and not stay home playing video games like other kids do. It’s helping me to feel confident with myself and to feel safe at school or anywhere else. And that’s what karate haws done for me in my life. ~Dakota Alexander

I have improved in my grades and I have confidence in myself. I have done better in class. I used to be scared to go in front of the class and I was also scared to help others if they needed help. I think taking karate has helped me get confidence in myself.
~ Antonio Iglesias

My son, Antonio, has benefited from the karate program at the Academy of Fitness in several different ways. He has become more reliable and taken on more responsibility in the past few months. He wants to help me more with things around the house, as well as taking things upon himself to do, like homework and chores on his own. I think karate has also helped Antonio in school. His grades are wonderful, he made Honor Roll, and he is definitely starting to like school a whole lot more. He is also becoming a very outgoing little person who has lots of friends. I am very excited that he enjoys karate so much and that it has been such a positive experience for both he and I.~ bMary Iglesias

Wow! Her physical fitness has improved as well as her grades in school. She used to argue about doing her homework especially math. Now she does it without being told, even her math. She has even improved on her social skills. Chelsea now shows respect to her teachers and family members. Thank you so much! ~ Marcella Bennett, Mother of Chelsea

Justin is enjoying the activities at Academy of Fitness Professionals. That is a key reason why we support his involvement in the activities at AFP. Also, from an academic prospective, his involvement in the program has not has a negative effect on his grades. He is still making the honor roll in school and was just selected has male student of the month (October) for the 7th Grade at Smith Middle school. He is excited to attend classes at AFP have reinforced those traits; however he is still very timid when approaching position of authority. This is an area that he must gain more confidence in. He must understand that respect for authority is wonderful, but intimidated by it is not. Respectfully,~ Mr. Wallace Ricks

The changes that I have seen in Darcy have been with school work. She seems to have suddenly improved in several areas. According to her teacher it has been a steady growth, which she gives credit to her after school karate. She seems to have grown right before my eyes. She made honor roll for the first time and she was very proud. Her goal now is to make the principles list. For an 11yrs old to set goals is pretty amazing, to me. She really enjoys her karate class and for that I have to thank her instructor. I won’t spell her name because I don’t want to spell it wrong. Thank you ~ Pat Siguenza

Thank you for allowing Ian to be part of your school and the Black Belt Club program. Ian has improved in many ways since becoming a member of AFP. His general attitude and respect for others and their property has improved. He has shown big improvement in school and even made the honor roll last semester. He works on homework as soon as he comes home so he can attend training when we come home from work. Thank you for all the encouragement you and your staff have given him. We look forward to a long and rewarding relationship. ~Wayne Jacobs

Since Charles has been attending AMAF I have noticed a change in his behavior at school. He has been able to focus more on his schoolwork and made the honor roll for the first marking period. He has also shown more self-control over his emotions and doesn’t get as easily upset over certain things. Now he takes the time to sit and think before he reacts. Since Charles has been attending AMAF he also does his best and gives 100% at things that may seem too hard or impossible to do. He always keeps trying if he doesn’t accomplish it the first time. AMAF has been a very positive influence for him. ~ Charles Stalling (Parents Letter)

I am Devinn Gleaton’s Fourth Grade teacher and I am writing a letter to keep you informed of Devinn’s academic progress this quarter. I have seen a lot of growth in Devinn’s academics and working independently. He is beginning to gain confidence in himself and believing in his work. This past quarter Devinn had two projects that needed to be completed at home… He made a time capsule based on the life of Rosa Parks and just completed an Animal probe on the Saltwater Crocodile. Both of these are examples of outstanding performance. When presenting to the class, Devinn was well prepared and ready to answer peer questions. I hope that Devinn continues to excel this last quarter in academics and personal growth. If you have any questions, please contact me. ~ Lynn Tompkins

I think that joining Tang Soo Do has helped me greatly. I think some of the things it has helped me with include concentration, dedication and endurance. The academy of martial arts and fitness has also helped me with my self confidence. There qualities don’t just help me with my martial arts but in my life outside the studio. My grades have improved since I started Tang Soo Do. I have also become a better leader in several ways. Let’s first start out with my concentration and its improvement. I have become more focused in class. Therefore my grades have improved major. I am also a better student not only in grades but over all. I am almost sure that my parents have seen improvements in me as well. For example, I am more focused on chores and do it completely through the first. That are the main ways confidence has improved. Now we move on to my dedication and endurance in physical activity has improved greatly and I take pride in that. I am very dedicated to Tang Soo Do and the more I practice the more endurance I receive. I think those are a little of the ways that those qualities have improved. My leadership skilled have improved in many diverse ways. I have learned to accept responsibility for my action, which I think shows leadership. I have also learned to lead but not be bossy. Just to point them in a direction but let them follow their own path. I understand that leadership is not to choose a decision for someone else. No but, to guide them to the right choice for them, not me but them. I think that is a big accomplishment. So I have learned a lot since I joined Starworld AMAF. Some of the things I have learned will follow me through the rest of my life. I have made friends that I will never forget. I have learned lessons that can not be untaught. I have earned respect of fellow members. I also give my respect to all the black belts and other instructors who have helped me with my journey. I am proud of myself and glad to have been given the honor to train at Starworld AMAF. ~ Unknown

Since my daughter, Anna, has started taking martial arts she has showed improvements of her ability to concentrate without others distracting her. In kinder-garden and first grade, her teachers only had one complaint and that was her ability to focus on her work. Her second grade teacher hasn’t had a problem with her at all and this has allowed her to make the principles list, and honor roll for students who receive all A’s. I can confidently say this is because of her training at StarWorld AMAF because each day she is focused to look at her own work instead of those around her. ~ Willie B. (parent letter)

A.M.A.F changed my life by helping with my school, my grades and also it helps me control my anger. Since I joined when I was 6 I’ve grown a lot cause before I wouldn’t do my homework and turn it later than the original turn in date, and also when I didn’t go for quite a long time I had the same problem I was failing the 5th grade and barely passed but when I started going back I would finish my homework on time. It also helps at home cause I used to argue a lot but I’m getting better at not arguing but I still argue but not as much as I did. The way it helps with is that I don’t get picked on by bullies or that I don’t get intimidated by others. Also with my grades because I didn’t used to do my homework and get in trouble a lot. I have been disciplined to do so and I would be a different person. I par attention in class and thanks to that I grab a hold of concepts a whole lot faster than others do. I have had a journey and I’m almost at the end of that road for both school and karate. School because I have only 5 more years of grade school, for karate because I am going to be busy when I go to high school and I am not going to be able to go and I get my black belt soon. If it wasn’t for the help of the black belts I wouldn’t be as strong as I am now, if I didn’t learn to be disciplined I would be up all night trying to figure out my homework and I’d be a different person than what I would be if it wasn’t for everybody at A.M.A.F, and Master J.R. Williamson for pushing me to keep going and never give up on my dreams and on school. ~ Nathan Avila

My spelling test for 5th grade was an 80 % the best I got all year so far. I’m also a lot stronger and have more flexibility and I also doing better at home work.

Nick was not able to focus in class; he did not participate in class, and at times would become angry when he was frustrated. I have noticed a 180 degree turn around. Nick has overcome the problems I listed. He is now confident, respectful, responsible, and has improved his school grades.

Thank you Master Williamson for letting me take karate form you. ~Travis Ostrander.

This is only Brandon’s third belt test, but it seems like he’s been in Tang Soo Do for years. That being said, I’m still seeing progress all the time. Because Brandon only bean taking classes in January we saw very modest academic improvements. Even though he knew and understands the lifestyle changes that he was being taught, his attitude towards education remained guarded at best. This school year Brandon’s attitude is still not perfect, but there are marked indications that he is taking school much more seriously. He has started performing objectives. He has kept to a study, hygiene, and sleep regimen. He does not complain about homework or studying, and he seldom has to be asked twice to do things. As for his physical skills, conditioning, and training I think he is doing very well. He seems to learn the forms, kicks, holds, rolls, etc. quickly, and his execution is good. His physique is becoming more muscular. His features are becoming more and more defined. When he is doing simple exercises like push-ups and sit-ups, his form is much better… more refined. Martial arts are providing my son the instruction he needs to become a well rounded individual. His body, spirit, and mind are all changing for the better. ~ Thomas Featherston
